I wonder whether creative people are here to tell our stories so we can find out what they mean. The vulnerability that demands, especially for those of us from marginalized groups, can make that a terrifying act. But it’s also the only way that some of us can become whole. I’ve been trying all my life to speak into that fear, and I don’t know if I’ll ever get there, but even if it takes me a lifetime, I can think of any other struggle I’d rather undertake.
